Howard studied saxophone at DePaul University in Chicago, and continued his musical education obtaining a Master's degree in jazz saxophone and an additional Master's degree in Studio Composition from the University of Miami. Upon graduating Howard headed for the “high-seas" and became musical director for Celebrity cruise line, whereby he lead, performed, and scheduled many of the onboard Musical acts. It was a fantastic experience all while exploring unique destinations throughout the world.

Howard has performed with many top performers and musicians, such as having the opportunity to perform with Arturo Sandoval and his jazz quartet as a featured soloist.

While in Chicago, he performed in a variety of musical settings from jazz bands to studio sessions. He won a “Downbeat" award for outstanding soloist in the pop/rock/blues category on tenor and soprano saxophone. The popular "Cruise Travel" magazine also interviewed him, detailing the life and work of a musical director.

As a professor, he has taught music courses at one of the nation's largest colleges, Miami Dade.
He has written music for small group, jazz band, orchestra, and film.

Howard is available as a composer, arranger, and session player.
